At Orbiting Collectables, we use standard grading terms to describe trading card condition.
Below you’ll find our grading tiers with descriptions and example images for reference.
Condition | Description | Typical Features |
Mint (M) | Fresh from the pack, virtually flawless. | No visible wear, scratches, or edge marks. Centering may vary slightly. |
Near Mint (NM) | Excellent condition, very close to Mint. | May show very slight edge, corner, or surface wear only visible under close inspection. |
Lightly Played (LP) | Gently handled but still great for play or collection. | Small edge nicks, light scratches, or slight shuffle wear. No major damage. |
Moderately Played (MP) | Noticeable signs of play. | Whitening on edges, light creases, or surface wear. Still structurally intact. |
Heavily Played (HP) | Significant play wear. | Creases, edge wear, surface damage, or small bends. Card remains intact but not ideal for collectors. |
Damaged | Serious flaws affecting condition and value. | Major creases, water damage, tears, ink/marker, or heavy wear. May not be tournament legal. |
